Baldwin Denim

Exterior Cladding Components

Description

Known world wide for their attention to detail in their clothing, Baldwin Denim turned to Hufft Projects to create a prototype brick-and-mortar store. Baldwin Denim Plaza is the clothing company’s first full-brand store. Hufft Projects, in turn, came to SSM to fabricate and install the iconic wall panel system that defines the facade. Utilizing a blackened zinc cladding material, SSM fabricated and installed a custom, horizontal wall panel to create a signature look for this retail store in a high end shopping district.

True to the clothes they design, the clients desired a balance of form and function and a straightforward presentation of the product. This is expressed on the store’s facade – the simplicity of the panel system stands out against the array of colors and ornate details found on the surrounding Plaza buildings. The interlocking zinc panels are matte black and constructed in a simple linear pattern.

Signage

The Baldwin mark was waterjet-cut into the aluminum sign and mounted to the zinc panels. A back-lit blackened steel sign bears the company’s triple-stitch logo, visible through the windows by day and by night.
