Garmin International’s headquarters is getting a new parking garage and SSM has been awarded the exterior cladding system.

Joining the Design Build Team of GouldEvans & McCownGordon, SSM was selected to design, engineer, fabricate and install nearly 30,000 square feet of perforated cladding components.

The Design / Build process is not new to SSM. In fact, a few years ago, SSM worked as part of the same team on the new Student Union on the UMKC campus. As with the UMKC project, time is a critical component. SSM had to provide details to the pre-cast concrete outfit within 2 weeks time so as to define where our connections to the slab are to occur.

Then, we started at work on the completion for the project’s shop drawing. The customer has a construction schedule of about 10 months with a completion date scheduled to be mid to late August of 2016.
