Description

Established in the 1860’s, and named for J. B. Welborn, Wyandotte County’s first Superintendent of Schools, the recently remodeled Welborn Elementary School stands proud.

HTK Architects was tasked with joining two buildings together to create one school.

SSM fabricated and installed the striking new sunshade blade elements.  Fabricated from 3/8″ aluminum plate, each laser cut panel is 18″ wide and just over 17′ tall.  Featuring a decorative, basketweave pattern, the blades shade the new lobby from the southern sun.

We also provided the sunshades above the entry and office windows.  Together, the results are striking.
