Robert takes most things pretty seriously. He is laser focused on his work laying out parts and pieces for production. Systematic in his approach, every “I” doted, every “T” crossed. Parts are nested together in exacting ways, meticulously laid out in a logical progression using various software packages — working from the models, sketches or diagrams provided to him. This ability to interpret what is he sees into flat, 2D objects to be cut and formed is like a musical piece that builds towards the finale.
But when he has his guitar or banjo in hand, Robert becomes a different person. Playing for family and friends brings out Robert’s creative side as he, his wife — on upright base — and his band mates interpret two-dimensional notes on a page and create beautiful melodies together.
Rolling forward and backward as the style dictates, he alternates with a thumb roll when needed which is surprisingly similar to what he is doing at work. While both fun and work take advantage of Robert’s finger dexterity, only one of them makes him tap his foot as he does it.
