BSHS Freshman Entry

Single Skin Panels

Description

This 88,000 square foot expansion allowed the school to bring the Freshmen class back into the same building, joining  the rest of the students at Blue Springs High School.

By increasing the number of classrooms, creating gathering spaces while featuring the school’s colors and logo, this Freshman Center Addition also creates a new, more secure, grand entrance for students.

SSM utilized our Series 900 panel system to create the dynamic entry feature that marks this new entry.  Producing both a solid and perforated panel helped create the unique look that Hollis+Miller wanted to achieve.

Created with three different patterns — 23%, 35% and 51% open — the perforation pattern keeps the same center spacing, changing only the size of the perforated openings.

On the exterior, the perforation patterns create a more visually interesting pattern, resulting in the surface having different degrees of vibrance and openness while creating the dynamic entry feature.

While on the interior, the perforated panels are backed with an acoustical sound deadening insulation to help manage the noise level.

The same 900 Series panels were used to create the picture frame window features, the infill panels and the entry soffit feature.
