Description
2020 Design Excellence Award Winner – Kansas City Chapter of the AIA.
Founded in 1885, the Kansas City Art Institute is an independent 4 year college of art & design.
This new dining center provides their students with the best possible living experience on campus – elevating meal time.
Designed by Helix Architecture + Design, the intent was to provide a place for students to unwind after a day of classes, relax and enjoy a good meal – creating an environment tailored to art students.
SSM fabricated & installed a number of components that were key to making the project a success. Our custom perforated sun shades serve to reduce sun glare in common spaces. Then, the mirror polished & perforated stainless steel panels at the cafe – some with integral signage – provide an accent element to the entry and the public view of the building. Our 450 Series ACM panels act as a picture frame to tie it all together.
These components were all fabricated and installed by SSM.
