The Lenexa Old Town Activity Center, located in the heart of Lenexa, Kansas, has long served as a community gathering place.  Hosting various local events, educational programs and recreational activities, it served the area well for a number of years.

In order to meet the growing demand for space and enhance its ability to serve the community, the center underwent a major renovation and expansion. The renovation added 23,000 square feet and included a new east wing and a renovated west side adding 1,300 square feet for a new entry and other amenities.

The design team wanted to create a distinctive looking building with a more modern aesthetic.

To do so, the existing facade was replaced, panel by panel, keeping the facility operational while the new wing was constructed.  SSM utilized nearly 4,700 square feet of Kingspan’s QuadCore Designwall 4000 foam wall panels, in three different profiles and four different colors to complete the visually, distinctive building — allowing it to continue to serve the community for years to come.
