“We wanted something that our alumni, as well as our future graduates, could be proud of.”

~ Jeff Vandel, Executive Director of Facilities, North Kansas City School District.

Winnetonka High School’s main entry had been lacking in many features.  The recent remodeling efforts, executed by BNIM Architects, have rectified many of those concerns and has created a new, high visibility entry point that students and faculty can be proud of.

The two story addition features a new security entrance and administration offices with a conference room all wrapped in a custom perforated metal panel system painted in the school’s colors.

SSM, working with the design team at BNIM, developed a panel solution that was uniform in attachment yet still allowed for the custom perforation pattern that you see here.

Utilizing our high speed punch press, SSM was able to create custom panels for close to the costs of a more conventional ones.  Fabricated from 3/16″ thick aluminum plate, the perforated panels were finished to match the ACM components used in the areas that were not perforated.  This allowed the school to achieve their goal of having a building that they could be proud of.
